During the duration of this class you will be partnered with a classmate who is also writing a paper. We would like you to work through this peer review process in order to provide and receive valuable and constructive feedback to ultimately aid in your writing process. Please complete the peer review process as instructed on this document in order for everyone to get the most out of it.
Please utilize the “track changes” function in word (or some form of annotation/markup if you are using text edit). On the top bar you go to “review” then “tracking”. Switch the “track changes” switch to the “on” position. Do the paragraphs flow well together? How do they flow together? Make special note of any strange jumps or disrupts in the paper. (Many times, flow can be achieved by linking the last sentence of a paragraph with the first of the next. Circle words that link the paragraphs together.)

Does the author provide relevant evidence supporting the claims made in their body paragraphs? Do they cite these sources in the text? Does the evidence that is provided seem reputable and legit, why or why not? Make notation of claims the author has made that doesn’t have a citations, but should. (Generally, this is knowledge that was discovered or generated by a former scientist, not just common knowledge. Therefore, if I said that the buckeye butterfly was a specialist herbivore, I would have to cite literature that investigated this topic. If I made a more general claim, like something that is common knowledge (the sun rotates around the earth), I would not have to cite that.)

Is the thesis statement reiterated multiple times throughout the body paragraphs? (i.e. is there a connection to the evidence that is presented in the body paragraphs and the overarching purpose of the paper?) Make note of anybody paragraphs that may seem potentially disconnected or out of place.

Does the author make reference to theories and topics of animal behavior covered in class? Write down the topics they reference, if they don’t reference any, make some suggestions for relevant course material they could:
